China

China is the most populated country on the earth with 1.3 billion people. A large portion of the country is uninhabitable, however, since the Gobi Desert covers much of China and is mostly covered by rock. Aside from the occasional sandstorm, China has a range of ecosystems (like the United States), allowing variety in plants, trees, and animals (yes, the panda, though note the giant panda is only naturally seen along the ever-shrinking Yangtze River).

The Chinese people carry with them deep history, cultural traditions, and unique cuisine. But note that the country varies greatly from region to region. For example, Chinese in the north are taller and speak Mandarin. In the south Chinese are shorter, have darker skin, and speak Cantonese. Some social scientists argue China is two different countries in one.

China is a great place for the adventure explorer. There are many sights to see, from the Great Wall and Terracotta Warriors to temples and pandas, and everything in between.
