Czech Republic
The Czech state, formerly known as Bohemia, was formed in the late 9th century, and came under Communist rule after World War II when Russia assumed authority. A “Velvet Revolution” in the late 1980s put the former Czechoslovakia on the path to democracy with a stable and growing economy. Czech Republic has not adopted the Euro but utilizes the Czech Crown (koruna), letting students be in Europe without euro prices.
Geographically the land is quite similar to the east coast and Midwest United States. Thick forests and furtive land give Czech Republic little need to import. Catch a train from beautiful Czech-Switzerland National Park in the northwest and ride it into Prague. Seeing sights and appreciating this transitioning country is easier than you think.
