What's Included
With Panrimo, your study abroad experience in Florence begins well before you leave home and continues past the end of your Panrimo program. Below is a description of the benefits everyone receives by being in a Panrimo Program:
Before You Depart
Personal Advisor
Everyone is assigned a Panrimo advisor, not a “team.” This is part of our personalized approach to overseas experiences. A personal advisor assists you with the admissions process and program selection, and answers any questions you may have regarding the course work, university amenities, work culture, and pre-travel preparation.
Financial Aid Guidance
Panrimo assists you in securing financial aid by acting as a resource for grant and scholarship information. Panrimo staff also assist with preparation and filing of the Consortium Agreement for transfer of financial aid. Financial assistance also includes help with preparation of travel budget and integration with your home university to ensure timely disbursement.
Pre-Departure Orientation Booklet
Written by Panrimo staff and with tips and advice from traveled Panroamers, you receive a 100+ page orientation booklet covering important themes. These themes range from how to mentally prepare oneself for life abroad, what and how to pack, to specifics on Italy like cultural nuances in Florence, places to visit and avoid, and more.
Credit Transfer Assistance
Right from the start, Panrimo works with you and your study abroad advisors to secure the most seamless transfer of course credit possible. Panrimo provides you with a course credit approval form to help expedite the process, and will even arrange phone conferences between the host university and the home study abroad office when more detailed information is required.
Visa and Passport Application Assistance
Visa and passport application assistance are part of the complete Panrimo package. We let you know when and how to apply, plus ensure that any visa requirements are fulfilled before departure.
Personalized Questionnaire
Everyone comes to a study abroad program with various skills, expectations, and needs. Our questionnaire helps us suggest abroad opportunities unique to you, so true cultural experiences can be made.
Tailor-Made Entry Packet
Before you leave on your program, we provide you with an entry packet that is personalized for you, and includes vital information, such as coordinator contact, emergency, housing, and insurance information, maps of your housing and university, and personal suggestions and tips gathered through conversations with you.
While You're Abroad
Tuition, Fees, Campus Amenities at SRISA
You can choose from a variety of art and Italian culture courses in English, as well as Italian language courses. Top-notch professors with degrees in their field, quality classroom amenities, and access to campus computer labs, phonetic stations, libraries, and other services are included. Enrollment and international student fees Panrimo also covers. Knowing the country’s ministry of education accredits the university makes it almost a certainty credits will transfer.
Housing - Shared Apartment
Apartment living is ideal in Florence, giving you independence and remaining affordable while coupling you with another student of your age for support. All apartments are located near the Santa Reparata International School of Art, some requiring a short bus or metro ride to let you live like a local. You will share a fully furnished room, with a bed, linens, a pillow, and covers, a wardrobe, and a desk, while the apartments offer fully equipped kitchens, with a stove, refrigerator, and microwave, as well as a table and chairs for dining. There are also private bathrooms with sinks and showers. You can also choose to upgrade to a single bedroom in shared apartment.
Excursions and Cultural Immersion Activities
Panrimo includes the following excursions for the Summer II Florence Semester: a weekend excursion to Rome, Italy, a day trip to Greve in Chianti, and a personalized tour of the Uffizi Gallery. Excursions are chosen based on cultural importance, educational potential, safety, and, of course, to ensure enjoyment. Panrimo covers all transportation fees, entrance fees, and personalized guided tours. For overnight excursions, accommodation and most meals are included.
Onsite Coordinator
Richard Burton is the Panrimo Coordinator for Florence, Italy. He will assist you throughout your program. Richard will pick you up at the airport, take you to your housing, lead you on your Next Day Orientation, help you get situated at the University, guide you on your excursion and immersion activities and more! He is excited to show you around Florence and is available 24/7 for any of your needs.
Airport Pick-Up and Transfer
When you arrive in Florence, Richard Burton, your Panrimo coordinator, will meet you at the airport terminal to take you to your respective housing arrangement. This ensures that no one is left to get around by their own means. You become acquainted and comfortable with your coordinator before meeting the following day to attend your arrival orientation.
Next Day Orientation
Upon arriving in Italy you meet Richard Burton, your Panrimo coordinator, who will guide you around the city, providing you with information about transportation, food, currency, hospital locations and safety measures, and other necessary information. Richard will also address issues concerning the local culture, including perceptions of foreigners, your perceptions of the host country, and areas to avoid.
International Health Insurance
Be covered for any accidents that may occur during our Panrimo program. Our staff enrolls you in HTH Worldwide medical health insurance from the first day to last during your program. Some key benefits include doctors visits and ER coverage, evacuation, emergency family connection benefit, travel interruption benefit, and more.
When You Return
Panroamer Travel Club
The Panroamer Travel Club provides tools and services for graduated Panroamers. These include airport pick-up for life, access to coordinators in partner cities, letters of recommendation, overseas university transcript archives, visa and passport assistance for future travel, tips on smart travelling, and access to Panrimo’s excursions and cultural immersion activities. Please refer to the Panroamer Travel Club page for more information.
Transcripts from the University of Maryville
Course grades and transcripts come in original form from the University of Maryville. They are sent to Panrimo’s office about ten weeks after the Panrimo program ends. We then forward them directly to your study abroad office. We ensure academic integrity is maintained through the process, and let advisors see all original copies of transcripts.
