What’s your favorite time of year/season in London, and why?: My favorite time of year is spring: rejuvenation, trees with leaves, birds nesting, and sun (occasionally). Remember, about a third of London is open space or parkland, so you’re not away from nature.
Favorite local food or drink?: There’s food available in London from all over the world. It’s the variety that is outstanding. Nothing wrong with a good old fish n’ chips, though.
Why choose London?: London is the most vibrant city on the planet. People from around the world come here, from refugees, economic migrants from home and abroad, to tourists. It offers a start to anyone who’s prepared to work hard and there’s a real buzz in the air, everyone moving round at 90 miles an hour – metaphorically. It also has the best selection of music, whatever your tastes; and fabulous museums and galleries, many of them free.

Currency
The national currency is the British Pound (GBP.) The pound is divided into 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £5 value coins, and £5, £10, £20, £50, and £100 value banknotes. £1 equals approximately $1.50.
Local Transportation
The Tube is your best bet for reliable, affordable transportation. Ticket prices vary, so the easiest solution is to buy an Oyster Card. With your Oyster Card, you scan and go, the final price depending on where you exit, obtained by swiping the card at the exit gates. You can also use your Oyster Card to board buses. Fare is about £2, and the bus is great for late-night transport since it goes until 04:30am.
Language
While it may come as no surprise that the British speak English, there are still plenty of cultural gaps to fill, particularly when it comes to slang. For example: French fries are called chips, and chips are called crisps. Keep an ear out!
Weather
Those visiting London during the spring semester should pack jeans, long-sleeve and short sleeve shirts, a windbreaker and a winter coat, umbrella, tennis shoes and waterproof boots. Summers will generally be cool, though winters will not reach the cold extremes typical in North America.
